Hi,
It is a bit ambiguous on who should start the last trick at the end of a flatland battle. We also have had some problems when riders cannot decide who should start their last trick first.
To make it clear and efficient, I think the rider "ranked higher" (battle lost count, qualification position #, etc.) should decide who should start their last trick first. It would be up to the "higher ranked" rider if he want to ask the order rider if he wants to go first, but if the other rider doesn't care/doesn't have an opinion, the higher ranked rider must decide who goes first.
Once that is decided, I also think we should make it mandatory for the riders to take turns in their last tricks.
These two proposition could save time, making last trick more efficient, and fair to all riders.
What are your thoughts?

I definitely agree with you Emile. Additionally, having the riders alternate attempts for their last trick is crucial to the preservation of the head to head battle intensity.

I also totally agree. After Unicon Montreal changing this rule is really neccessary.. haha

Are riders allowed to change their trick?
Comment
Yes. Only the landed attempt will count.
Rulebook page 183 states:
"The last trick demonstrates how strong the rider is, physically and mentally, in the end. The rider will have 3 attempts to perform a final trick. Partial points may be given for a trick that is almost landed. Only the last attempt will be scored, other failed attempts do not subtract from the score. The rider is not obligated to try the same trick in every attempt."

Can you make this a proposal now?

Hi,
I think it will be better if it's not one of both riders who decide who go first. Especially if it's the "ranked higher" : that's look like the "best rider have more right than the other"...
I think one person outside the battle can ask both rider if they want to start and if they don't want, he choose one. It's an impartial person who decide.
Or maybe I don't understand what you say Emile...?

He doesn't mean the rider ranked higher at that point in the battle, he means the rider who was ranked higher prior to the battle. The competitions are run in a tournament style and they're seeded based on the riders' performances in their preliminaries, that's how they get their rankings. Emile was suggesting we use THOSE rankings to determine who goes first in final trick. Which is a pretty reasonable idea in my opinion.

Exactly. This way we know who is going to do their final trick first before the battle even starts. Talking with the riders would just waste time that we may, or may not have.

I finally made a proposal here since no one in the flat committee did. I would like to set this to a vote very soon so we can finish up the committee. Please comment and let me know if this proposal is okay or if changes need to be made.
