Proposal 36: Limits for Groups [ Revision 1 ]

Committee: Freestyle
Submitted on 2015-03-24
Status: Failed on April 04, 2015

Background

As we used different country limits at the Uncion 16 and Uncion 17 for groups, we should upgrade the limits as mentioned in the below proposal.

In Brixen and Montreal at the Unicons we had higher limits than mentioned in the rulebook.  So we had two tests, now it is time to change the sections in our

rulebook accordingly.

Proposal

Old:

5.14.9 Maximum Number of Competitors for Jr. Expert and Expert

Non-Unicon: Organizers of non-Unicon events can choose to limit the number of

small/big groups using the guidelines below or have no limit.

Unicon: Each country can submit a maximum of three groups to compete at Unicon in

each of the following categories: Expert Small Group, Jr. Expert Small Group, Expert

Big Group, and Jr. Expert Big Group.

New:

5.14.9 Maximum Number of Competitors for Jr. Expert and Expert

Non-Unicon: Organizers of non-Unicon events can choose to limit the number of

small/ large groups using the guidelines below or have no limit.

Unicon: Each country can submit a maximum of five groups to compete at Unicon in the category Large Group. Each country can submit a maximum of four groups to compete at Unicon in each of the following categories: Expert Small Group and  Jr. Expert Small Group.

We know that not every country will send 5 large groups, this depends on the part of the world where the Unicon is held. Therefore we do not have to fear, that there will be to many large groups. This can be different with the small groups, therefore we should just use the limit "four" for the small groups.

Body

if we do not allow higher county limits, it can happen that there are only 6 large Groups or even less, we never had to many groups at Unicons.  Judges do not have trouble judging more groups and being the winner of 10 groups is much nicer, than being the winner of 6 or less groups.
