Proposal 1: Base your age on your birth year [ Revision 1 ]
Committee: Main CommitteeSubmitted on 2014-12-18
Status: Set-Aside (Reviewed from December 18, 2014 to December 28, 2014)
Background
By basing your age for the competitions on your birth year, it keeps you in the same age group for the whole season. That prevents awkward transition between regional, national, and internat
Proposal
Old Rule:
1d Definitions
Age: Rider’s age for all age categories is determined by their age on the first day of the convention.
New Rule:
Age: Rider’s age for all age categories is determined by their age on 31 December of the year that the event is held in.
If a multi-day event spans the new year, the age is based on the year that the event starts on.
Body
Having someone's age group stay consistent for all competition in a riding year makes everything much simpler. In the case where a multi-day event spans the new year, you choose the earlier year. This way the rider would be at most 5 or 10 days too old. If you choose the later year, the rider could be up and 1 year and a few days too young.
