- define a minimum length of the bar
Discussion on Unicon17:
Which minimum length of the bar is necessary that the rider has enough space for his jump, first ours at unicon 17 the length of the bars were only 1 meter, a lot of riders have problems between the resulting reduced distance between the big apparatuses. Then in short time longer bars were organized.
Therefore beside the diameter also the length of the bar must be defined, proposal minimum length 2m
Comment
I would suggest requiring a bar between 1.5 and 2.5m in length.
Comment
It needs to be more than a unicycle mesures from ground to seat as in the air, the unicycle becomes almost horizontal.
I think 2m or more is good.
Comment
This should not be stated as length of bar, but as the clear space between the posts, measured from the innermost protrusions on any part of the supporting structure. I'm a non-jumper, but 1.5m sounds pretty narrow to me. Not only can hitting the supports be bad for the rider, it could also damage the structure and delay the competition. I'm for a 2m minimum. No need for a maximum rule. I remember at Unicon X we found a full-sized High Jump apparatus and just used that.

I agree with John proposal

I agree with John as well.

Me three. :D

I'm late but agree too.

Basically I agree, but what do you think abaut the material of the bar.
When it is to long, the middle is hanging or stroke easilly in a competition.
...... only the thinking of an engineer, but ist doesn't matter for this proposal ??

"Around the High Jump apparatus a circle with a radius of 3 meters must be marked This circle is start and finish line. …… The bar shall have a minimum diameter of 2cm. The bar must have a length so that minimum distance between each part of the apparatuses is 2m."
Here is a shortened version.
There must be a circle with a radius of 3 meters marked around the high jump bar. The minimum distance between the two post is 2m and the bar must at least 2cm in diameter.
Comment
we have to topics according bar:
1. minimum length of 2m (distance between apparatuses)
2. max. bending of 3cm (proposal 60)
With both definitions the relevant requirements for the bar should be defined.

Yes, I was referring to the proposal ( http://rulebook.unicycling.org/r/iuf-2014/proposals/32 ) you made, I was just trying to clean up the formatting of the sentence
Comment
Emile, once all of the proposals pass, the editors can clean up the text. Thanks for your suggested text.
